Specification

The Chevrolet Corvette C2 Stingray was the second generation of Chevrolet's sports car and was produced from 1963-1967. Both the body structure and chassis received radical changes from the C1 variant that came before, with steel supports increasing rigidity and fiberglass panels keeping weight down. A wind tunnel was also used for the first time in Corvette's history to help refine the Stingray's aerodynamics.

1963 also saw the first-ever production Corvette coupe, with a contemporary fastback design, with a split rear window, a very unique styling element for its era. Drivetrains were carried over from the C1 variant and comprised of a wide selection of small-block V8s producing a range of power outputs, from 250bhp for the smallest block up to 360bhp for the chart topping fuel-injected engine. Three transmission options were available for the C2 Stingray, a familiar three-speed manual, a two-speed Powerglide automatic, and the rarest option, a four-speed manual gearbox.

The split window coupe proved to be highly attractive, with 1963 production numbers surpassing the 10,000 mark, a popularity that remains today, with collectors recognising it for its unique design and one-year availability.

The car we are pleased to offer is the definitive example of the C2 Stingray, a matching numbers 1963 Fuel Injection Stingray Split Window coupe. It has the 360bhp L84 V8 engine mated to the highly desirable M20 4-Speed manual transmission. The car was restored a few years ago to its original colours of Silver Blue Poly over a Dark Blue interior, and sits today in fantastic condition after being looked after meticulously by a British-based collector for the last 6 years. This car presents the rare chance to own the near-ultimate spec 1963 Corvette Fuel Injection Stingray Split Window coupe and would make a brilliant addition to any collection as well as a real investment opportunity.
